Mixed Doubles: China Glaze Manhunt and Zoya Lolly
Another China Glaze On Safari mani. This time I paired Manhunt, a creamy, brighter-than-navy blue, with Zoya Lolly, a matte Barbie pink.
This was a simple tape mani. I used the same two pieces of tape for both fingers (just flip them around and use the other side). The matte Zoya is tricky to apply, so I had to really lay it on thick. I like the matte against the shiny and the blue against the pink.
Here’s a pic of Manhunt on its own. It went on splotchy at first…almost jelly-like. I was convinced I hated it. But by the second coat…love it. It’s bright, but not stark. Dark, but not navy. It’s very pretty and I don’t have a blue quite like it. I might even be able to wear it to work. On a Friday. Before a holiday. When my boss is gone.
The On Safari masterpieces (in my own mind) so far…
- Lioness (I’m Not a Lion)
- Striped Elephant (Elephant Walk, Exotic Encounters and Prey Tell)

This is so simple yet so beautiful. I probably would have never thought to use these two colors together and they look great.
Thanks, Cynthia!
This is awesome. I love the matte against the shiny. And I even like the pink! I love matte/shiny manicures they’re just sometimes difficult for me to execute cuz the only matte I have is a matte topcoat so sometimes its hard to get it to look right. This looks perfect!!!
Thanks, Nicole. My problem with matte/shiny manis is that there’s no way to “fudge it” if things don’t look quite right. Normally I can just slap a couple of thick coats of SV on there and everything’s all better. No can do if part of it is to stay matte. So I agree, these looks are harder to execute. That’s why I stick to the simple stuff!
i love this colour combo. and then the matte/shiny mix just kicks it up even more! i want both of these colours so i can be just like you! thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you so much! :)
I like the shiny & matte mix. How are your nails always perfectly shaped by the way?
Hi Jenni. I like my nails super square so I always shape them with polish on…my natural nail line plays tricks on my brain and my nails always end up crooked if I shape them naked. :)
Love the combo, what kind of tape do you use? I’d be afraid I’d peel off my polish.
Hi Sarah. I use Satin finish gift wrap scotch tape (this was a tip from Chloe’s Nails). If I do a coat of Seche Vite and wait 10-15 minutes and take some of the stickiness off the tape, it doesn’t peel of my polish.
oh my goodness!! this blue is soooo dreamy!! soooo shiny and very bright!! drool! ;-)
