The Search is Over: China Glaze Desert Sun
Here’s the seventh and final post in the China Glaze On Safari safari. I named this post “The Search is Over” as in “The search is over for the worst color ever with my skin tone.” It doesn’t help that Desert Sun looks pumpkin-ish because anything made of pumpkin makes me gag. Don’t get me wrong, the formula is grand and I get the concept behind this fall shade…it just doesn’t work for me. I’m not complaining. The On Safari Collection resulted in my favorite mani ever (Lioness). And you can’t win them all.
This mani consists of two coats of Desert Sun followed by one full coat of I Herd That on my accent finger and a slight sponging on the other nails.
Desert Sun is much more butterscotchy in person. After one coat, it was the color of knees and elbows after a bad self tanner experience. But after two coats, it was truer to the bottle. I’m sure this would be great on someone who shines in warm tones. Here’s a pic of just Desert Sun.
The good news is I love I Herd That in and out of the bottle. I’m a sucker for fine glitters. I Herd That has gold, copper and orange glitter. It’s a warm shade also, but glitter fixes everything.
So this concludes my China Glaze On Safari safari. I’m glad I did it. It made me feel warm and fuzzy inside to try all of the polishes in the collection right away instead of adding to my untrieds pile. Thanks for reading!

i love this look. such a pretty combo!
Thanks!
I giggled at your mention of bad self tanner. I never saw it before when looking at this shade but you are so right!
I deleted my first description. Self-tanner was the “nice” way to say it. It was so gross in person. :)
I love the sponging of I Herd That over Desert Sun. I’ll have to try that. :) Too bad Desert Sun doesn’t play nicely with your skin tone. :-/
They are a pretty combo together… I’m sure this would be fab on someone.
Oranges are my favorite, even if they do look terrible on, lol ;-)
We always love what we shouldn’t have! LOL.
