Candeo Orchid

I love holo and I love berry colors so Candeo Orchid was a winner from the start. Orchid has large, holo hex glitter and smaller, round, rose-gold glitter. It’s all suspended in a fuschia, shimmery, cough-syrupy base. My favorite! You could probably get this polish opaque with several coats, but I chose instead to layer it over a similar color. This mani is two coats of Orchid over two coats of Sally Hansen Salon Effects Purple Posy. The tinted, shiny, shimmery base of the Orchid intesified the Purple Posy color, giving it almost a neon look under my daylight lamp.

Check out that glitter, isn’t it awesome? My camera almost didn’t know what to do.

I like this polish because it has a lightness about it. Call me crazy, but it’s like I can feel heavy glitter polishes on my nails. But Candeo doesn’t give me that icky-thick-glitter-blanket-feeling. It was easy to get smooth with just one coat of Seche Vite. Love it. Here’s a shot with indirect light.

So does anyone else get that icky-thick-glitter-blanket-feeling? :)

Usually if my glitter is too thick it’s like I can feel it… so I tend to pick at it and peel it off. I have a habit of peeling polish- I’m way better than I was, but if it’s really thick it’s like I can’t help myself.

I know it’s awful for my nails :(

I have seen a LOT of the milky polishes with glitter suspended in them- I’ve tried one or two, it’s just too much coating for me, and it’s one of those looks that seems to be way better on other people than me. I prefer glitter suspended in a clear or slightly tinted base to layer on top of an opaque color ;)

    • I agree, once the thick-heavy-glitter-blanket is on…it’s pickin’ time! That’s why I prefer less dense glitters in a cough medicine-ish base.. However, that will not stop us from continuing our quests, Correct! LOL!

First off- this is very pretty. Secondly tho I don’t mind the thick glitter’s thickness so much as the roughness that sometimes goes along w it. I hate when my nails aren’t smooth and get caught in my hair and feel all scratchy when I touch my face. THAT just about drives me to drink!! Grr. You are definitely not alone tho because Cynthia from Of Life and Lacquer is always saying how much she hates how glitter feels on her nails. I think her problem is mostly the roughness too it it bugs her so much that she *claims* (there is some debate) to HATE glitter! Haha. I can’t hate glitter because it’s sparkliness pulls me back in but I definitely have a bit of a love/hate at times w some of the super chunky glitters.

  5. Where can you buy that polish? It’s so amazing!
