Matte Green Wallflowers

This was one of those manis that just happened…no planning involved. I didn’t like it at first. But after looking at the pictures, I’ve changed my mind. Sometimes a matte topcoat can take a so-so design and make it look like a velvety masterpiece (weeeeeell, maybe).

Wallflowers: Zoya Tracie with Zoya Vanessa and Essie Jazz Flowers finished with a matte topcoat

I started with two coats of Zoya Tracie, a “yellow-toned, pistachio” green with a slight frosty shimmer. I created my wallflowers with Zoya Vanessa and Essie Jazz. I always use Seche Vite even if I plan to finish with a matte topcoat since it seems to seal everything into a tidy smooth texture. After about five minutes, I did a final coat of Sephora by OPI matte topcoat.

The color combo was all very granny-ish. I like how the matte finish “traps” in the shimmery Tracie. It reminds me of wallpaper.

Hahaha the colors are a little granny ish but come together nicely for a bit of a 70s wallpaper feel. I think the matte saved them. I actually think these are very cool!! And the execution looks flawless.

  4. I really like this! It looks like wrapping paper – or tissue paper you put in a gift bag.
