Blue Jeans: Zoya Skylar and Kristin
I saw this technique for the first time at The Daily Varnish. She called it Acid Washed Nails and it was such a pretty color combo. I knew immediately I was going to try it myself with blues. I also wanted my nails to have a linear, corduroy looking finish to them, so instead of using an acetone dipped q-tip, I used a make-up brush.
I started with two coats of Zoya Skylar, a medium blue with a metallic silver finish. Then polished one coat of Zoya Kristin, a blue-leaning gray creme. I dipped a fairly firm makeup brush into acetone and wiped most of it off. Then I swiped over each nail several times, removing the Kristin and revealing the Skylar underneath.
Normally I wouldn’t like a look that wasn’t even and tidy, but I really do find this mani charming and interesting. It’s smooth, but has a texture about it. It’s messy…but it’s not.

I like this wayyy better than the q-tip method! The q-tip one, to me, looked too splotchy & just too much in general. I would have saved it for a halloween manicure or something :P This looks really neat, though, I’m gonna have to try it some time!
Thanks! I like it too.
looks so cool! I love that it’s not “overdone” haha
Believe me…I had to resist the urge to “overdo” it. :)
Awesome!
It looks great!
