The Closer: Butter London Dodgy Barnett

I’ve been on an excruciating No-Buy for the last six weeks in preparation for later today…when the hubs and I go sign many, many papers promising to pay many, many dollars for many, many years. In return, we get to live in our dream home, so it’s not a bad trade-off. Of course, my thoughts immediately turn to what mani I will wear for the occasion.

I admit it. I splurged. Because I can get most professional polish (Zoya, OPI, Essie, etc.) deeply discounted with my nail tech license, it pains me to pay $14 for a bottle of Butter London. But I love it. So my celebratory mani is Dodgy Barnett from the Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. It’s the perfect shade for signing my life away. A cross between a conservative classic gray and a highly holographic silver. Buying a house never looked so good! I took lots of pics because this polish looks different in every light.

First up is the conservative indoor indirect lighting shot…appropriately subdued for today’s serious indoor lighting occasion.

Occasionally though, you can catch a glimpse of the holo finish.

Indoor shot under a daylight lamp…getting crazy.

And finally full sunlight…time to party. LOL

This polish is so versatile; you’d hardly know it was the same one from the first pic to the last! Awesome. This is the first mani in the history of this blog I shall file in Work, Play and Polish. And so will go the progression of my day – serious to celebratory.

Anyone else put a ridiculous amount of thought into a mani for a special occasion?

Disclosure: At this time, I do not have any material connection to the brand or product used in this post.

Love this shade! And CONGRATS!!! What is it like? Old, new? SF, condo, etc? :)

    • SF, new construction. So fortunately we don’t have any “fixin’ up” to do at the new house…but lots of work at the old house to get it listed. Thanks for asking! :)

awesome! :) If I may offer some advice…our house is now 6 years old…we bought it brand new/picked stuff/etc. There are some crazy things that happen with new construction. Usually you get 1 year to report stuff but as it gets close to the year they may not remind you…we had settlement which they did fix but we had to be on it. Also one thing we were not on was the carpet…they did not stretch it enough so it is bubbling but we waited past warranty so never got it fixed…we are too lazy/cheap to do it ourselves haha :) Someday! I prefer older homes BUT not the upkeep!

      • Good advice! I’m sure the builder won’t be begging to come fix stuff! We started out looking at older homes (like way older). I love the charm, but we quickly realized we don’t have the time/energy for the upkeep. Plus, it’s hard to beat the new open floor plans. Older homes are so compartmentalized. But the best news is I get a new polish room that I don’t have to share. :)

I cannot reply to your last reply! :) I’d LOVE to see pics of polish room! And yes our floorplan is VERY open!

  3. Thanks for stopping by! Nice nails and great blog!

  4. Congrats! We just signed up for our first mortgage this week and I too chose a specific polish with a lil bit o holo glitter – Cult Nails I Got Distracted.

Holy WHAT, this polish is gorgeous!! I need it. I think butter LONDON is expensive too, but I really like their formula. Plus, we sell it at Macy’s and I get a discount. ;) I think I’ll go and see if we have this in stock…

    Congrats on buying a house!!

  6. Mary says:

  11. Thank you all for the congratulations and advice! It’s been a long day of signing and packing. But the good news is Dodgy Barnett held up like a champ. I caught the title company dude looking at my nails. LOL.

  12. Congratulations!!! And great choice for the mani. I definitely think about the color for special occasions but I think in terms of 7 days at a time, I love how you switch it up more often.

  14. Absolutely beautiful!

I had a terrible time trying to make up my mind between this one and Trustafarian. I ended up getting Trustafarian but haven’t used it yet. This is gorgeous on you and congrats on your new home!!!
