Vivid Lacquer Halloween Collection (Fall 2012)

Today I’m excited to show you Vivid Lacquer’s Halloween Collection! I loooove this collection. I only wish I could have photographed these in the sunlight…but the weather wouldn’t cooperate. I suppose my shadowy indoor lamp adds to the Halloween mystique. I layered each polish over a fairly predictable base coat. I’ll dream up some more exciting combinations in the future. Application was easy with every single polish. All manis are finished with one coat of Seche Vite.
First up is Waning Gibbous. It’s a blue jelly filled with purple, teal and silver (maybe gold) micro and hex glitters. I love jelly sandwiches in a bottle! To give this some depth, I started with one coat of Zoya Song and added one coat of Waning Gibbous with just a touch of dabbing. This is really beautiful.
Next is Autumn Harvest. When I opened my package, this was the first one I reached for. I love the combination of orange, pink, red and yellow glitter. This has a clear base, so I layered it over two coats of A-England Elaine, a deep purple. I did a little more dabbing with this one to get the colors dispersed on the nail…but totally worth it.
If I Were a Zombie is an off-white jelly with a hint of gray and green. It contains red and black shreds and hex glitter and fine, green round glitter. I contemplated a few different color combinations, but settled on one coat of China Glaze Pelican Gray. I was able to get a good zombie hue from just one coat of If I Were a Zombie. I have to admit, I was not sold on this one…but it’s actually growing on me. It’s a very unique polish and in some ways, it reminds me of Ohio State. :)
Pumpkin Hangover is a cute topcoat with small orange, white and yellow hexes and orange/gold microglitter. If you know me, then you know I’m not a big fan of anything pumpkin. It’s a running joke in my family. I wanted to try this over an orange…but not a summery orange, so I chose China Glaze Riveting. Unfortunately, Riveting’s shimmer overtakes some of the cool facets of this polish…so it probably isn’t the best swatching combo. However, I still think it makes a gorgeous mani!
Next up is The Ragdoll’s Soliloquy. This is another clear based polish. It has a very slight shimmer to it and green, blue and gold/silver hexes. As a bonus, it has green moons and black hearts (which required a little fishing). I layered one and a half coats over one coat of Zoya Bevin. This one is soooo pretty in person – my pics don’t do it justice. It reminds me of Mardis Gras.
Last but not least, we have Black Widow. This is a clear base with multi-shaped black glitter and hex and round red glitter. The small black bar glitter reminds me of hair. Like spider hair! I think this is perfect for Halloween. I’ve layered it over one coat of OPI Alpine Snow so you can really see all the pieces.
Waning Gibbous and Autumn Harvest are my faves, but I really like the entire collection!!

I love the Black Widow! However, I’ll have to say “If I were a Zombie” has to be my top, if only because you likened it to Ohio State!! Ohio in the house!!!
