Essie Stylenomics with China Glaze I’m Not a Lion
You can never judge a polish by the bottle. I relearn that lesson over and over. Stylenomics is Essie’s Fall 2012 Collection. None of the polishes “spoke” to me, so I was going to say pass this time around. But then, as a pleasant and unexpected gift, my French cousin (well, I like to say she’s french) brought me the collection’s dark green creme…called…Stylenomics.
Indeed, I changed my mind about it after the very first coat. It’s much less teal on the nail than in the bottle and it’s so dark, it could almost pass for black. It’s just a rich, deep color with an awesome formula that was completely opaque in two easy coats. How could I make it even more fabulous? Add a few accent nails in my favorite full glitter ever, China Glaze I’m not a Lion.
I used hole reinforcers to tape off my thumb and ring fingers, then added one coat of I’m not a Lion. I love the dark green with the neutral, flashy gold.
How can you not love this glitter? I’d wear it every day if I could!
Ever been shocked by a polish that you didn’t like in the bottle but loved on your nails?
Disclosure: At this time, I have no material connection to the brands or products used in this post.

the glitter accents make your mani look so glamorous!
more often than not, i’m more disappointed with how a polish looks on the nail, especially when it comes to duochromes that look so kickass in the bottle :/
I agree about the duochromes! They are definitely deceiving in the bottle.
Stylenomics is gorgeous! Looks fab with the gold glitter too!
This mani is so pretty! The one polish that comes to mind is butter London’s Gobsmacked. It’s kinda ho-hum in the bottle, but it’s a weird textured, sparkly black on the nails, and it’s mesmerizing.
That is very much like China Glaze’s Near Dark. A green so dark it is might as well be black
So pretty! And I need to find that CG glitter!
I love the color. Also the gorgeous sparkles! Wow!
Mostly I’m dissapointed when I discover visible brush strokes everywhere. I really hate that. A polish can look so damn stunning in the bottle, but such a disappointment on the nails.
This looks really cool! Love the black and gold!

I’m Not Lion is stunning, I wish I didn’t miss out on the Safari Collection this summer. It is so tempting to order it online!
Beautiful manicure!
OMG! Cousine–u were reading my mind. I went on ur site today to see if u had tried it. Que riche!! Luv it and the fancy accents totally do it justice. Save me an appt for the holiday…
I haven’t necessarily like a polish more on the nail than in the bottle but I have liked a polish more the second, third , etc time I saw it than the first. This collection didn’t wow me but the more I see it the more I kinda want this particular shade and the dark dark red. I don’t remember the name tho. This reminds me of a darker Khloe Had A Little Lam Lam, which I love.
Ohmigosh, Stylenomics looks gorgeous on you! I was disappointed it was so blackened but love it on your skin tone. :-)
I’ve had polishes do that to me as well. It’s a great surprise! I’ve also had polishes I didn’t think I liked but the more I wear them the more I love them. It reminds me of listening to an album once and dismissing it right away but then it grows on you over time.
Stylenomics reminds me a lot of Zoya’s Cynthia, which is one of my favorite polishes, though it gets a lot of criticism for looking almost more black than blue. I actually LOVE that about it, so much so that I’m tempted to get Essie’s as well . . . it does look richly, peacock-y teal in some lights, and even if it appears as though it might be black in other lights, at a glace, to the untrained eye, the blue tone is so much more flattering on my skin than true black would be.
