Essie Bobbing for Baubles
My daughter believes that I throw the phrase “it’s my favorite” around a bit too much when talking nail polish. But I explain to her that “No. In fact, China Glaze Ruby Pumps IS my favorite true red jelly-based red microglitter.” So you see, the categories are endless. So believe me when I say that Essie Bobbing for Baubles is my new favorite!
I did not own this polish until recently. This bottle was the lone Essie in the CVS clearance basket. This had to be a mistake. I’d heard of the polish, but since it was released prior to me just completely giving in to my full-blown polish addiction, I never went searching for it. (It came out about a year ago as part of the Essie Winter 2011 Cocktail Bling Collection.)
Why do I love it? First, the application is flawless. Look at these pics! This polish was almost opaque in a single coat (uh-mazing) and had perfect, smooth coverage in the second coat. No dragging. Easy control with the brush. No clean-up. Glassy finish even before topcoat (I used Seche Vite in the pics).
Then, don’t get me started on this color! Biggest points for being office friendly. It’s a gray leaning (dirty?) navy blue with an almost purple undertone to it. It’s dark…but not gothic. There’s just something about this color that is extremely wearable. I am loving it! And yes…it’s my favorite…my favorite office-appropriate dark gray-blue cream! :)
Disclosure: I have no material connection to the products used in this post.

one can never have too many favourites :p
So true! So true!
this is also ONE of my favourites. I bought it when it first came out and it was way better than I was expecting.
I was suprised too. Same thing with Stylenomics. I always think pastel pink when I think of Essie so it’s nice to branch out.
This is one of my favourites as well!!! Great swatches!
How is it that I’m like the last to know [again] about the fabulousness of a polish?
I am totally with you with this polish – and with a ton of favorites as well :-)
There’s no such thing as too many favorites! :)
Love the color and absolutely love Seche Vite top coat!
I have a whole Seche Vite maintenance ritual with the bottle cleaning, Seche Restore, large refill bottles. You can never be too prepared!
I lol’d at everything in this post! I feel like I’m always posting about my favorites! And I laughed out loud at “favorite office-appropriate dark gray-blue cream”. Ugg, and I love your nail length and shape! This color looks fab on them!
Thank you! Thank you! I’m always telling my hubby that we nail polish enthusiasts speak the same language! LOL
So true!
and I love that grey! I am always hunting for a grey that works well with my skintone. I cant pull greys but I love them too much to not keep trying! :D
This one is dark navy in a lot of light…so maybe it will work for you. I have trouble too. If a grey has any warmth to it…it looks green on me!
I have this colour as part of the mini set – you make me want a full bottle now! have you tried ‘no more film’ by essie?
I haven’t tried that one…but just googled it and I MUST have it! Until now, I haven’t really given Essie the attention it’s due. Now I must investigate!
No more film is also a dark blue, but has a purple tinge in it. I have a post about it – will copy the link below. Please excuse my painting technique :-|

Omg I’m not an Essie fan, but this color is gorgeous!!
Agree!
I agree, can never have too many favorites, but this is gorgeous!!
So pretty! I was just curious as to whether you had gel nails, acrylics or something along those lines?
Thanks, Madeline! These are my natural nails. As long as I keep them polished, they stay nice. I don’t know if it’s bc the polish protects them…or if I’m just more conscious of taking care of them.
