Check, Please: Zoya Electra and Storm
I’m still working my way through the Zoya Ornate Collection. Today I have Zoya Electra, a silvery, holographic bar glitter, and Storm, a full-coverage holographic black. These are both beautiful polishes. I haven’t been a fan of bar glitter in the past, but Electra reminds me of Christmas Tree tinsel…so big points for that! Today’s mani is a checkerboard pattern.
I started with a base of Zoya Purity (a clean white that you can win as part of my Gilty Pleasures Trio Giveaway!) Then added two coats of Electra. Next I taped off the first row of checks, polished a generous coat of Storm and immediately removed the tape. I repeated this three times (once for each row of checks). After each step, I used a coat of Seche Vite. This sped up the time I had to wait before taping again.
After I was finished, this mani was rock solid! I chuckled as I recalled all the layers: Base Coat, Purity, Electra, Electra, Seche Vite, [Storm, Seche Vite], [Storm, Seche Vite], [Storm, Seche Vite]. Only 11 coats! No wonder it had a glassy finish! I wore these nails out to dinner and they were constantly noticed!

Funny mani!!! I’ve never seen chessboards on nails before! And I love the colors you picked! <3
Thank you, Luisa! Thanks for reading too!
<3 Thank YOU, for following my blog too! <3
That is gorgeous! Totally worth 11 coats, I’d say :)
Yes, it was worth it! LOL. It really wasn’t too hard to remove.
I love it! Did you just tape off the squares? I’m going to have to try that!
I must have missed your comment the first time through. Sry! Yes…I just used regular scotch tape.
Love the contrasting elements within the colors. Great idea & it looks hot! Gotta give this one a try, if only the hubs could understand “MY NAILS R WET!” Sorry for screaming:)
LOL. Some things just require screaming…and have a hubby that doesn’t understand “wet nails” is one of them! :)
That is so cool
Thanks, Bets! :)
Wow! This is incredible! I gotta say, you are really knocking it out of the park with these manis using the Ornate collection.
Thanks, Erin. I just love these colors!
Absolutely gorgeous!! This is the first usage of Electra that has really wowed me!!
Thank you! It was hard to capture the wow factor in pictures…but the contrast of the holo glitter with holo black was really eye catching under direct light.
That mani looks really cool! :D Electra’s definitely an interest color. Don’t think I’ve seen a polish like that one before.
It’s very unique to me too. It’s so dense.
11 coats sounds almost like a challenge to me. :D But Its is so gorgeous!!
LOL…it wasn’t so bad. I used the foil method and it came right off. Fortunately most of those coats were Seche Vite.
That looks so good!!
Thank you!!
Hot! Let me know what it’s like taking off 11 coats :P
It wasn’t so bad. The hubby mostly missed my cuticles with his jackhammer. :)
I’m dying! LOVE.
omg this is sooo fun!!!!!! I absoluitely love this love love
Thanks, Amanda!
These are stunning!
