Pretty Patina: Butter London and China Glaze Saran Wrap Nails
Today I have my first attempt at Saran Wrap Nails. This mani has a big payoff for such little effort. It’s all about the color combo with this technique and I love the results!
I started with two coats of Butter London The Old Bill, a burnished copper metallic. The Old Bill has a great formula and is simple to apply for being a metallic…no brush stroke complaints. I like the antique look of the color. It’s different than a lot of bronze polishes that lean too yellow or orange.
I added a coat of Seche Vite and waited until it was completely dry (this was the hardest part!). For the second step, I polished one coat of Deviantly Daring over one nail at a time…then dabbed the wet polish with a scrunched up piece of plastic wrap until I was happy with the results. Deviantly Daring is from the China Glaze 2012 New Bohemian Collection. This is one of those polishes that’s breathtaking in the bottle but not as breathtaking on the nail. Don’t get me wrong…it’s still a beautiful peacock teal color with a lot of depth and a great formula. But expectations are so high before you open the bottle, it’s hard to live up to! However, I’ve found it’s a great stamping and nail art color.
I’d like to try this mani in reverse with The Old Bill on top…but there are just too many polishes and too few days in my life! :)

Beautiful colour choices! Well done :D
Thanks! It was so easy!
Stunning
Thanks! And thanks for reading!
I attempted one of these this summer. I loved it!! And you’re right such an awesome payoff for such little effort (outside of the waiting for the first layer to dry completely!)!! I love these colors together!!
-Coral
Thanks, Coral! It really is an unscientific process. LOL.
Wow! It’s amazing! I have to try this myself.
Let me know when you do…I’d love to see it!
Absolutley, I’ll send you a note when I do ^.^
Love this color combo! Gorgeous! Also, I love your small nails. A nailtechnician once said that I’ve got small nail beds, but yours really stand out :D
Thanks! The downside to narrow nail beds is it makes it difficult to use the large wide pro brushes on some polishes. Flooding everywhere! LOL.
So, so pretty!
Thanks!
I love the colors you’ve picked!! <3
Thanks! I can’t take all the credit though…I’ve been admiring lots if gold/teal manis lately and that’s what sparked it.
Love it! The colors accent each other perfectly.
Thanks! Love your galaxy nails today BTW!
Wonderful colors, this combination is my all-time favourite
Thank you!
Wow! That looks wicked! Im sooo going to have to try that technique! And the colours look gorgeous together! <3
Thanks! Let me know how it turns out!
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this tutorial!

these look great!
Thank you! Sorry I missed your comment earlier!
Np :-) x
omg this is gorgeous!!! I absolutely LOVE your color combo!
Thanks, Amanda. I’ve got like three other manis in my brain using these same colors.
i loved this saran wrap.. i bought deviantly daring when i went to the us in the summer, and, tbh, i didn’t like it.. i don’t know, i guess i was expecting something different.. i think i will copy it tonight, but using cherimoya heavy metal instead, i don’t have a proper golden polish.. living in this country is a pain in the neck for the nail addicts.
I’d love to see what you come up with! Post it to my facebook if you can.
will do!!
Oooh i love this. Can’t wait to try it out :)
It’s so easy. Let me know when you try it.
Is it ok to reference this blog entry on my next post?

It looks so good – very interesting, magic.
It is magically easy, isn’t it? I think it’s all about the colors you choose. Thanks for reading!
