Red Ruffian with Zoya Zsa Zsa and Essie Beyond Cozy
Good morning! Today I’m sporting a classic ruffian in Zoya Zsa Zsa and Essie Beyond Cozy.
There’s nothing quite like a good red. Zsa Zsa was an untried for me. I have no idea when it was welcomed into my stash. It’s a cool toned red that’s part of Zoya’s core line. Beyond Cozy is new (you can see my swatch and review here) and part of the Essie Winter 2012 Leading Lady Collection. I love fine, neutral glitters. There’s so many ways to use them.
I used three coats of Zsa Zsa then freehanded the crescent moons in Beyond Cozy. The whole look is sealed with Seche Vite.
I love how it turned out. A ruffian using a glitter is a simple way to dress up a plain mani.
Disclosure: At this time, I have no material connection to the brands or products used in this post.

So pretty and the glitter crescent is so perfect! I assume you used a smaller brush to do that?
Yes. A very teeny nail art brush.
Ruffian looks so great on you! It looks ridiculous on me so I’m going to live vicariously, haha.
Sara, I’m sure it looks great on you!
Maybe if you did it for me… when I try it is a HOT. MESS.
In other news, I’m going to read old entries of your blog today while I avoid my work and my grad homework. So, if you see a thousand comments from me… I’m not as creepy as I look ;)
LOL. I love creepers! :)
The crescent moons are so neat, do you know a method to achieve this other than free hand? Id make a tits up of itif I tried free hand.
You can paint the whole nail with your crescent color and then “cut in” your main color over top (leaving a gap). Or you could tape off the cuticle line…not sure what you could use to get the right curve. Besides, you could totally do this! If you mess up, you just use the other color to touch up your mistakes until it’s perfect!
This looks so christmas-sy… I have to keep it in mind! :) very beautiful!
It does have a holiday feel to it, doesn’t it. I’m totally getting my Christmas decorations out this weekend…I can’t wait. LOL
That would look sweet with a dark green as well, I think…
Hahaha, I have to get rid off my Halloween stuff first ;) lazy me!
I wish I wouldn’t have done my nails last night, so I could do this reverse French!! Love it, as usual!
Perfect pairing and perfect execution :D
Thanks, lady! :D
I did this once but it wasnt very neat :( . It is good to use to cover where your nails are growing when you have acrylics and need infills but cant get to the salon! (thats where Im at now, but do them myself…not lazy tho just got a ton of uni work on atm!) xx
That is a GENIUS idea to use a ruffian to prolong time between fills! I did acrylics for years and I really find it’s easier to maintain my own nails then drag myself to the salon.
Me too! And its cheaper! I think the glitter polish would hide the infill/lack of infill better than a flat polish as it is soo reflective! Ive got an amazing multi colour large glitter one from the Poundshop where I live which could work really well with the Ruffian design with the main block colour in black! aw, thinking about it, would have been cool for Bonfire night! :D xx
I love that idea too! I can’t believe I’ve never thought of it.
I like this a lot!
Thanks, Bets! :)
