OPI Designer Series Mystery
Today I have a simple swatch of OPI Designer Series (DS) Mystery. I was all primed and ready to put some serious gold dots on this baby…but after I got it on, I knew it didn’t need any fancy stuff.
DS Mystery was originally released in the Fall of 2009. This polish really is a mystery. It’s a deep, deep purple base with fine gold flakes. Depending on the angle, it can look purple, brown or black.
Application was smooth and it was opaque in two coats. Unlike most of the other OPI DS polishes, this one doesn’t have as much bling. I do like it though. I only wish the eggplant jelly base was just a tiny bit lighter.
In all…Mystery is a great alternative to black. The subtle shift from purple to brown makes this polish very versatile. Does anyone have this polish? What do you think?

Simple yet nice. I do wish OPI would go back to a time where DS = holo and not just more expensive nail polish.
Yes! I totally agree. My polish addiction didn’t go full blown until after the age of DS holos…so they’re just legend in my mind. :)
It’s really pretty!
I like it so much better seeing it in photos than I did on the nail. Maybe I didn’t give it the chance it deserves. LOL
I have nominated you for a sunshine award! Read here for more details

Awww. Thank you so much! :)
You’re welcome! :)
Love it!
Thanks! :)
I really love your swatches of this one! I never considered getting it but now I might!
That happens to me daily – where I don’t think I need something until I see someone’s swatch!
It’s beautiful. Understated elegance.
Thanks. I agree. The sparkle is pretty subdued…but still there.
