Today is Day 4 of the Digit-al Dozen theme week. Isn’t this fun!? Today’s mani is awfully similar to Day 2. Again, I taped off triangles to represent Christmas Trees. Only this time I was inspired by a Christmas decoration in my house. I have a set of of three sparkly silver “wire” trees. I saw them from across the room and it reminded me of Victoria’s Rainbow Nail Tutorial at manicurator.
For this mani, I wanted to deviate from the classic Christmas colors. I chose China Glaze Dorothy Who as a base. It looks frosty to me. After two coats and a coat of Seche Vite, I taped off the triangles.
Now comes the hard part. I tried to follow Victoria’s instructions and I failed miserably. I couldn’t get the polish stringy enough to “fling” so instead I “drug and dabbed” it (that’s a real technique…according to me). I used Sally Hansen Celeb City, a metallic silver, and I think that’s why I couldn’t get the right consistency. This next pic is a weird angle, but it shows the texture and depth of the triangles. I didn’t use a topcoat.
Finally, I used a small dotting tool and OPI Red to dab on some ornaments.
I love how this looks in person. Have any of you tried the string technique? Also, did anyone catch my silly mani title “String Trees”? You know…String Cheese. [crickets] My daughter didn’t laugh either! :)
Don’t forget to check out the other Digit-al Dozen masterpieces! These ladies are uh-mazing!
