Digital Dozen Does Festiveness: New Year’s Party Nails
This is it. The last day of my first Digit-al Dozen theme week. This was a lot of fun. I already can’t wait until January’s theme week! So for my final mani, I decided to do some New Year’s Party Nails…something fun and totally sparkly. I bought the entire Buttler London Holiday Collection when it was released, but I hadn’t tried a single one. I love ultrafine glitters and I love this entire collection. The polishes are so densely packed with sparkliness. I loooove how the mani turned out.
Because of the thickness and texture of the polishes, I knew I couldn’t apply this like a typical french mani…if I did, the tips would look like bricks and wouldn’t have a good contrast. Instead, I taped off the tip of each nail (just stuck the tape right to my natural nailbed) and polished two coats of Scallywag. I carefully removed the tape since the polish was quite thick and I didn’t want to “pull” polish off the nail.
Then I took some white polish (I can’t remember which) and polished the tips. This was easy because the thickness of Scallywag created a barrier. I went back over the white tips with a single coat of Fairy Cake.
I finished up with two coats of Seche Vite to make everything smooth. This mani sparkles even it low light!

Super, super gorgeous!! I’ll have to try this!
Thanks! It’s super easy!
I wish my nails were long enough to pull that off. I am inspired to try to some of your techniques over my winter break though!
Let me know when you do…I’d love to see them.
I LOVE how sparkly these are! I don’t know if the BL holiday collection even registered on my radar but I love superfine glitter SO MUCH… I may have to splurge on them :)
I’m with you…I loooove me some ultrafine glitter!
Really love this look. Thanks for sharing!

i love this manicure.. but i wouldn’t use it, but i totally see myself doing it on my friends :)
Yeah…this look isn’t for everyone. It’s pretty blinged out! LOL
Love it!
Thanks, Danisha!
So, so pretty! I recently pre-ordered Jack The Lad, but after seeing this mani I regret not ordering Fairy Cake and Scallywag. :(
I haven’t tried that one yet. My backlog of untried polishes probably exceeds the number of days left in my lifetime!
Love the glitter. Super gorgeous :)
Thank you, Kay!
Love this manicure! Great tips for thick glitters too.
Thanks! I use this technique for another mani I do where there’s a stripe of contrasting glitter down the center of the nail.
Love this manicure! Great tips for how to do french tips with thick glitters too
Thanks, Rebecca! And thanks for reading. I just checked out your blog. :)
These are so sparkly and fabulous!
Sparkly and fabulous…those two words always belong together, don’t you think?
Gorgeous!!
Thanks!
I saw your nails on facebook! They are amazing….LOVE this combo!
Yay! I’m glad you found me. Thanks for leaving a comment. :)
this makes me want scallywag even more than I already do..
I know, right? It’s the perfect blue for the season.
These are so sparkly and gorgeous! I love that blue!
Thanks! It is a fabulous blue. It looks so wintery.
So simple yet so pretty! I’m definitely stealing some ideas from you!
Thank you, Kelsey. I’m all about simple. I don’t have the patience (or the talent) to recreate some of the awesome manis I see online! :)
Quite smart not layering the tips! This looks great :).
Love this – such carefully done work and I know these 2 shades are not easy to work with. Mine are pretty gooy – like they need some thinner but then would end up balding. I run into this issue a lot with Butter London
