Digit-al Dozen Does Art: Warhol
It’s the final day of the Digit-al Dozen ART theme week. I’ll admit. I begrudgingly started this challenge but was really motivated and excited after I got started. I don’t think I’ve ever had a chance to use my Art Minor knowledge. Really, who ever does? So a big thanks to Kirsten at The Geeky Owl for coming up with the idea and Debbie at The Crumpet for being our fearless organizer!
Alright, Day 5…unlike the other days, I didn’t attempt to recreate a piece of famous artwork. Instead, this mani is an “Ode to Warhol”. For my take, I used an iconic shape (to us polish addicts anyway), an OPI polish bottle.
I made this waaaayyyy harder than it had to be. I had the brilliant idea to create my own decals. If you look closely, you can see the bottles sticking up from the nail. In the end, I should have been brave and just painted them on directly! I started with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as the base and the rest is acrylic paint. I didn’t topcoat the mani so it would keep it’s painterly look.
This mani has actually been sitting in my draft folder for quite awhile (hence the different lighting). I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not. I finally concluded it was a fitting finale to Digit-al Dozen ART week. Don’t forget to check out all of the masterpieces this week. I have been jaw-droppingly impressed with the creativity and execution!

I love the tackiness (texture) of this design. I’m sure I couldn’t sport this mani without messing it up. Cute!
