Digit-al Dozen Does Love & Heartbreak: Vivid Lacquer Theoretical Rockstar

Digit-al Dozen Theme Week was delayed this month so our Love & Heartbreak manis would coincide with Valentine’s Day. Whether you love this holiday or hate it, we have you covered. Since I tend to be a Valentine’s Day Lover and not a Fighter, I had to really force myself to do a few gloomy heartbreak manis…starting today. For some reason the combination of gray with messy black hugs and kisses says “heartbroken” to me.
I started with one coat of China Glaze Pelican Gray and two coats of Vivid Lacquer Theoretical Rockstar. Theoretical Rockstar has a medium gray jelly base with black, white and silver micro glitter. This was the first time I’ve tried this polish and it’s now my favorite Vivid Lacquer! Then I added ”angry” X’s and O’s. How does one make X’s and O’s angry? I’m not sure…but using a black It’s So Easy striper (which is hardly easy to control on round objects) and making aggressive strokes seemed like a good way to try. [clearly sometimes I overthink things.] I finished the look with Sephora by OPI matte topcoat.
I really like the result. It’s not your typical V-Day mani. Of course, in the spirit of full-disclosure, my husband told me he liked my “tic-tac-toe” mani. *sigh* You can find Vivid Lacquer on Etsy and Facebook.

I love this! Looks awesome!
I love this! Super cute! And the matte top coat was the perfect finish to this. :)
I agree it looks like graffiti on concrete
That was exactly what I was thinking!
I love when you ask your husband what your mani looks like because it seems that he always gets it wrong, which brings me many laughs!
“Angry” is what I get from this as well, it looks very teenage angst-y.
These are awesome…I’m not a red girl so I’m really into these!! How do you like the OPI matte top coat? I bought it and I was really disappointed because it still has a bit of a shiny finish.
This is the perfect not-so-lovey Valentine’s Day mani!
Holy cow, This is for sure my favorite “Valentines Day” mani this year from all the bloggers I follow (a number too embarrassingly high to admit)!! I immediately thought “I MUST OWN that stamping plate” only to read that you did this freehand (which rules it out for me, I have ZERO freehand skills!)! I LOVE it!!
Such a clever idea!
Love your take on these! The gray and messy letters really does kind of say heartbreak to me too!
I love this, it’s my favorite Valentine’s mani so far ! I must be a hopeless romantic because I see this as passionate rather than angry
Love this take on a Vday mani and I like the use of non-traditional colors!
I love this! I think it’s so cool that’s not pink and red!!
Love this! That Vivid Lacquer polish is gorgeous!
This is beautiful!
Haha your husband is cute :D!
These are super cool! I love your “angry” strokes. :)
