Wow! A Saturday evening post! I’m playing catch-up. So tonight I have swatches of the Color Club Fall 2013 Collection, Girl About Town. I saw these at Cosmoprof North America and immediately thought it was a very cool, but odd, fall collection. I love that polish companies are throwing some unexpected shades into their seasonal releases. I can honestly say I love every one of these polishes. Formula and application were smooth and easy. Each swatch is two coats of polish and one coat of G&G HK Girl topcoat.
Let’s start with my surprise fave. Color Club describes Pearl District as a tiger eye shade. I had to google that. Wow…that description is dead on! It has the same deep honey colored luster as the stone. The polish was sheer and a little streaky on the first coat, but perfect on the second. Isn’t it gorgeous?
When I first saw the Girl About Town display, Silver Lake is the first polish I grabbed to examine. I love a simple grey polish. It’s very light, so I expected it to be chalky, but application was perfect.
The Uptown is a multi-faceted flakie suspended in a jelly-ish purple base. The flakies read rose-gold and bronze. It’s really beautiful and my pic doesn’t do it justice! I don’t have anything like it in my stash. The formula is on the thick side because of the dense flakes, but application was fine.
My camera has such a hard time with corals and oranges, and my photo isn’t nearly as vibrant as East Austin. It’s a light coral crème. Seems odd for Fall, but it has such a clean look to it that I think you could wear it anytime.
Williamsburg is a blackened navy shimmer. You guys must be tired of hearing me go on and on about medium pinks and navy (indeed, they are the color scheme of The Mani Cave). It shouldn’t be a surprise that I love this one too. :)
And finally we have Wicker Park, a pretty creamy lavender. It’s just a few notches deeper than a pastel. I searched the whole Mani Cave and the closest polish I could find was INGLOT O2M 686, which was deeper. It seems ordinary, but I was surprised by how much I love it!
I’m excited to see what’s to come next year with the addition of the Resort and Back-to-School Collections! (See this post for more info.) Color Club polish retails for $8USD for a 15ml bottle.
