Wowza…the reaction to our Digit-al Dozen rewind has been awesome. This is seriously my fave week of blogging each month. It’s a real challenge to keep up, but I’m always so happy with the results. Today I have the last theme that I haven’t tackled yet. (Starting tomorrow, I’ll show you a flashback to my previous attempts at each theme.) “Music” was the topic way back in November 2012. Hopefully, you can recognize my rendition of the King of Pop. LOL. Personally, I think it looks like Bruce Vilanch from Hollywood Stars.
So I did cheat a bit. Indeed I freehanded Michael’s shadowy mugshot, but I didn’t do it directly on the nail. Instead I used the plastic baggie technique. I painted Seche Vite onto a piece of Saran Wrap, then used black acrylic paint to create Michael. It only took me 2 or 10 or maybe 20 tries! My apologies to the Jackson family. :) Once I was satisfied (or in this case, tired of trying) I peeled the design from the baggie and attached it to the nail with another coat of Seche Vite. The clear base of the nail “sticker” sort of melts into the wet polish for a seamless look. I topped it off again with one more round of topcoat.
The red nails are OPI The Spy Who Loved Me. The accent nail is one coat OPI Alpine Snow coated with INGLOT holographic silver nail spangles. (If you haven’t tried INGLOT’s new nail art stuff…check it out…sooooo sparkly.) This nail, of course, represents his gloved hand. I find Michael’s whole one glove look to be totally hilarious now. But back in 5th grade, man, it made TOTAL sense, didn’t it??
Don’t forget to enter the amazing GIVEAWAY and to check out the other musical manis from the Digit-al Dozen.
Disclosure: The OPI nail polish and INGLOT nail spangles were previously provided by company PR for my consideration. For more information, please see my disclosure policy.
