Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. We didn’t host Thanksgiving dinner at my house, but we did have lots of company at the house…so I cleaned and cleaned like a mad woman. I like to have vacuum marks in the carpet when company arrives. LOL. It’s a problem, I know. :)
So I tried my first JESSICA polish for a Nail Art Society look and was super impressed (see it here). And today I have swatches of my first complete JESSICA Cosmetics Collection. In this post, I have their Fall release, A Night at the Opera. I’ll show you the Effects: Glitzy shades in a separate post.
Opening Night is a purple-leaning fuchsia shimmer that almost glows. It’s bright and deep at the same time. The formula was really good. My swatch is two coats.
Jessica describes Blue Aria as “cobalt”. It’s actually reaaallly close to black and it takes comparing it side-by-side with black to really see the blue. I actually find this unique. It also has a nice formula and dried smooth and streak-free in two coats.
Overture is a a coppery orange shimmer. Orange isn’t a fave color of mine, but the color is rich and glowy. Again, the formula was excellent. My swatch is two coats.
Velvet & Pearls is a black creme. I find it odd that this was part of a seasonal release. But the formula was nice and coverage was easy in two coats. Every stash needs a good black creme.
Standing Ovation is a duochrome shimmer that goes from blue-green to green-green. (You can’t really see the blue in my photo.) This shade also has a glowy finish like the other shimmers in this collection. I don’t have anything else quite like it!
And last, but certainly not least…this is Prima Donna, a blueish purple shimmer. The shade of purple is really unusual and the finish was almost sparkly!
I’m really impressed with this collection. The colors are all really deep and pigmented and the finishes are nice. Application on all was a little streaky with the first coat, but perfectly smooth and opaque in two. The only one I had a bit of a challenge with was Velvet & Pearls and that was because the brush had some bent bristles. My two faves are Blue Aria (I love the addition of a blue-black in my stash!) and Prima Donna for its distinctive shade of purple.
