Is it Wednesday already? Monday was my first day back to the office and I feel like I’ve run a marathon. Wow! Thank you so much for all the sweet messages and kind notes wishing me a speedy recovery! Today I have some nail art using the 2014 Nubar Spring in the City Collection. This Spring bunch includes eight polishes. Six of them are fresh and springy and two are a little unexpected for the season…a rich grey-purplish-blue (LOVE!) and a sort of warm purplish-brown. As you can see in the pic below, two of shades are almost indistinguishable in the bottles…but look less similar on the nail. (Mimi at Makeup Withdrawal has individual swatches of them all.)
I’m trying my best to branch out from my hard-line tape mani devotion and do some less structured designs. New Mood, a soft pastel purple, is my base. I used the rest of the polishes to create the flowers with quick dabs and strokes of a small nail art brush (seriously easy) and finished with Nubar’s Matt Finish matte top coat.
I’m a big fan of the Nubar brand. While they’re always on trend, they still seem to dance to a beat of a different drummer. One issue with this particular collection is all of the polishes but Fashion is Forward were really separated and required a ton of crazing shaking. In fact, I never did get them completely mixed. And a few of them had a really watery consistency. New Mood took three coats for opacity. I imagine you’d need the same for the other polishes.
Nubar polish retails for $8USD and is available in salons and through their website. They also distribute internationally. Visit their International Distributors page for availability near you. Be sure to follow Nubar on facebook, twitter and instagram for news and promotions.
