Gelish Colors of Paradise Collection Swatches and Review

press samples

Good morning! I’m a little late this week. My blog host was having issues and I wasn’t able publish any posts. All seems well now. It can be maddening though! So anyway…on to the mani!  I was introduced to Gelish at Cosmoprof North America in 2013. It’s tough for me to feature a gel mani option on the blog (because I’m constantly changing my polish). But I assure you that myself, my daughter, and nearly every member of my extended family are sporting Gelish pedis at this very moment. But alas, this is a toe-free blog…so you won’t be seeing any foot pics. LOL

Gelish Colors of Paradise Collection

Recently, I received MINIs (9 mL versions of the pro size) of the Gelish Summer Colors of Paradise Collection. Armed with new info on gel mani removal that I learned through researching a story (coming soon in the August issue of Nailpro), I was convinced I could take it off in a few days with no damage. So I decided to give it a shot. The Colors of Paradise Collection includes six fun, bright shades. L-R: Tahiti Hottie (purple), Mali-Blue Me Away (blue), Rub Me the Sarong Way (teal), Lime All the Time (lime green), Rockin’ the Reef (orange) and Pacific Sunset (pink). The purple is much deeper in person and some of the shades are brighter than my pics show.

I love soak-off gel color because it’s so smooth and shiny. The formula was really nice – it brushed on practically like regular polish and it was easy to get very thin coats (the key to a good gel mani). It’s important to follow all of the steps in the system for maximum wear (here’s a how-to video). I used Tahiti Hottie for most of the nails; then freehanded the stripes with a nail art brush. I used three coats of each color. The stripes aren’t perfectly sharp, but they look good to me. :)

I’m suddenly obsessed with Gelish. In fact, I swatched ahead for the blog so I could sport this mani for a whole week. It stays so shiny! To remove, you “break the seal” of the topcoat with a file, then soak-off using the foil method. Easy peasy. Every one of these shades makes a perfect pedicure.

Gelish Colors of Paradise Collection MINIs are available now at Sally Beauty. Licensed techs can get full-sized versions at CosmoProf. For news and promotions, follow Gelish on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Wow! Those cremes look so juicy! Almost like a jelly, but not see through!

  2. Abby says:

Holy cow! Could that video be any more intense? Haha. I would never use a gel. I don’t have that kind of patience and I like to change my polish often. Your mani is really gorgeous though. I love the result.

There such glossy shades. Love the fun accent nail.

That’s the perfect arrangement of the colours on your accent nail.

I love the concept of gel, but I cannot make that type of commitment to one color!
