Illamasqua Throb and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City French Mani

Today I have a French Mani using my first and only Illamasqua polish. The only thing I know about Illamasqua is that I have to look at the bottle each and EVERY time I type it so I spell it correctly. It just won’t register in my brain! Throb is an easy red creme from the 2011 Throb Collection, which has three polishes…all with gross names. Call me a prude, but I like my cosmetic monikers to be a little less edgy. But I’ll let it slide because I loved the polish. On to the mani!

Pure Ice Holiday 2012 Collection Roundup

Last night I posted the fifth and final set of Pure Ice Holiday 2012 Collection Swatches. Doing simple nail art is my first mani-love…but this week has been a nice change of pace. It doesn’t hurt that the colors are fun, the formulas are great and the price is right. For under $2 each, the hard part is just finding them in stock. So here’s a roundup of all 30 polishes swatched over this last week. Don’t forget, one winner will get them ALL and then some. So keep reading after the gallery!

We’re on the homestretch! Today is Day 4 of Pure Ice week. Don’t forget that every single polish swatched this week will be gifted to one lucky winner in my current giveaway!! But guess what!?!? It gets even better! Hop on over to the initial contest post and see how the prize just got a little sweeter!!! Let’s jump right in and chat about six more polishes…

On His Saddle:

This one immediately made me think of the ocean. It’s a metallic-y dark turquoise blue. The formula was super creamy. You could almost get away with one coat.

It’s Day 3 and I have six more Pure Ice Holiday polishes to show you. Sorry if I sound like a broken record…but be sure to enter my current giveaway where you can win every single polish swatched this week! Before I delve into today’s reviews, I want to thank all of you who have sent emails or left comments about the disconnect between some of the polish names/colors shown on my blog and what is actually in stores and listed online. I see that Pure Ice has been regularly updating their website…so I’m confident we’ll figure it out eventually. But as I told one commenter earlier – the name doesn’t really matter anyway as long as it’s a pretty polish. Am I right? :) So here we go…

New Years Resolution:

I love this one. It’s a blue red crème base with small silver and fuschia glitters. Application was really nice considering all that glitter. The pictures don’t do this one justice. I’m wearing two coats. *Note the Pure Ice site describes this as a burgundy glitter. Again, I don’t know if I have a mislabeled bottle or if there are a few versions of this one floating around the interwebs. One reader bought two bottles of New Years Resolution from two different Walmarts and they didn’t match.

It’s Day 2 of the Pure Ice Swatchathon. I have six more polishes to show you today. Just like yesterday, I’ll include notes where the polish name or description is different than represented on the Pure Ice site. Remember, you can WIN all of these beauties in my current giveaway!! So let’s get started.

Party Hard:

Party Hard is a deep navy blue. It’s a touch on the thin side…not too bad. I just polished very slowly and deliberately. Flooding your cuticles with dark navy polish does not a pretty mani make! This swatch is two coats. Isn’t it gorgeous?  Note: Pure Ice describes this polish as “black” but my bottle is cleary blue.

Pure Ice 2012 Holiday Collection Swatches and Reviews (1 of 5)

Hi guys! I’m pretty excited about my current giveaway.  When all that polish arrived on my doorstep, I contemplated breaking it up into several prizes. But it’s so much cooler to hand them over to a single winner, right!? For a confirmed polish addict…it will be a welcome addition of 31 new polishes to their stash. For a total newbie…it will be an instant “Polish Hoarder” starter set! As promised, I’m going to swatch every polish in the giveaway over the next week. So each day you’ll see six new polishes. At the end of the week, I’ll do a wrap up post showing all of the polishes. Sound good?

Okay, before I start on the individual reviews, please remember I can’t attest for wear time since I typically only wear a polish for one day. But I’d definitely welcome your feedback if you have any experience (good or bad) with these polishes. Also, every swatch you see is topped with a coat of Seche Vite. And as I mentioned in a previous post, there are several polish names/descriptions that don’t match the list on the Pure Ice site. I was going mad trying to sort it all out.  I’m just going to run through the polishes exactly as they’ll be gifted to the winner and will make a note if I noticed it was different. So let’s get started!

Your Place or Mine:

Right out of the gate…I love this one! It reminds me of China Glaze Ruby Pumps. It’s a deep red base with dense, deep red microglitter. It went on smooth and was opaque in two coats.

UPDATE 12-19-2012: I was perusing the makeup at Walmart tonight. Oh, who am I kidding? I was stalking the Pure Ice displays at Walmart tonight and came upon the five polishes I was missing in the 2012 Holiday Collection. So I snatched them up and added them to the prize!!! That’s right, one winner will now get every single polish in the collection! If you’ve already entered…visit Rafflecopter again because there’s a few more ways to increase your odds. Check out my facebook for a pic of the fashionably late beauties!

UPDATE 12-15-2012: As I’m swatching the polishes in this giveaway, I’m noticing some differences in polish names/descriptions than what is displayed on the Pure Ice website. The good news? You’ll actually win 31 polishes instead of 30!!
