Sandy and Smooth: OPI Can’t Let Go & Tomorrow Never Dies

Textured polishes are everywhere! I’ve said this before…but how does everyone think of the same ideas at the same time? You can’t just whip this stuff up overnight! It boggles my mind. But that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to jump on any bandwagon! The liquid sand polishes in the OPI Mariah Carey Collection are the first textured polishes I’ve tried. I organize my polish by brand, then color and when I went to put Can’t Let Go away, it ended up right next to Tomorrow Never Dies from the Skyfall Collection. A perfect purple pair! Usually you see a plain polish with a funky accent finger, but this time I swapped it (because I’m crazy like that). I used Can’t Let Go on four fingers and Tomorrow Never Dies as the accent.

MAC Glitter and Limelight

For my last mani of the week, I have my very first MAC polishes, Everything that Glitters and In the Limelight. This duo makes up half of the 4-polish MAC Glamour Daze Nail Lacquer Collection released in October for the holiday 2012 season. I’ll show you the other two shades, Endless Night and Girl Trouble, in a future post. I had super high expectations considering the price tag of these babies and I REALLY wanted to love them. But in the end I was disappointed. Let’s get to the mani and you’ll read why…

China Glaze Drawn to Me: Chevrons Two Ways

Disclosure: Products in this post were provided by the manufacturer, their PR firm, or retailer for my review.

Hi all. I’m still getting back into the groove.  I was snowed in yesterday (which is heaven to a very part-time nail blogger). I’m always in such a rush.  Today I have some info about an awesome sweepstakes at BigDaddyBeauty.com. Keep reading to the end of the post for details on how to enter! For now…here’s today’s simple mani.

Digit-al Dozen Does Festiveness: Oh Christmas Tree(s)

Good morning! It’s day two of the Digit-al Dozen holiday theme week. Yesterday was my first mani with the group and they all put out some awesome stuff…so be sure to check them out. There’s a link at the end of this post.

So today I have a simple tape design. It may be a little impractical, but it looks good! I started with two coats of China Glaze Running in Circles, a gorgeous fine glass flecked green from the Cirque du Soleil collection. While that dried, I cut slim tape triangles and taped off each nail. Then I added a generous coat of China Glaze Ruby Pumps. I tried to do this in reverse first – painting the nail red, then using two intersecting pieces to tape off the tree…but the green got lost over the red. I finished up with a small, metallic gold star. This is the impractical part. The stars didn’t last long…but they were cool while they lasted!

Digit-al Dozen Does Festiveness: OPI Christmas Leopard

Hi guys! I’m introducing something new today. I was invited to participate in a small nail art group called the Digit-al Dozen. This is quite an honor as I’ve followed (stalked) many of these talented ladies’ blogs for awhile. So I’m super excited to be a part. The second week of every month (Mon-Fri) everyone in the group will post five manis based on a theme. This month’s theme is appropriately “holidays”. At the end of each daily post, I’ll provide a link to the other Digit-al Dozen creations. Please check them out!

For my first themed mani I have what I call “Christmas Leopard”. (My daughter said it looks like holly berries.) I used all OPI polishes, Alpine Snow, OPI Red and Green-wich Village. I think this look is fun and definitely super easy!

Envy and Ziv: a Zoya Christmas Sweater

Hi all! I’ve seen so many cool “Christmas Sweater” designs lately and I wanted to try one. After doing a bunch of practice stamps…I quickly realized that my nailbeds are just too small for elk. So I pressed ahead with a stamped, not-so-Christmasy, not-so-sweatery mani using Zoya Envy and Ziv.

Color Club A Winter Affair

I’m back. I’m trying to get into a routine Sunday blog break, but this weekend we were busy with household projects (including The Mani Cave) so I took Saturday off too. Speaking of the TMC, I hope I have a decent update ready for you on Wednesday. As of today, my quest for the perfect polish rack system is losing altitude and airspeed. But fortunately hubs and I may have discovered a solution. Okay…more on that Wednesday. For today I have a Color Club Winter Affair Duo mani to show you. These polishes are part of the 2012 Holiday Collection.
