Illamasqua Throb and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City French Mani

Today I have a French Mani using my first and only Illamasqua polish. The only thing I know about Illamasqua is that I have to look at the bottle each and EVERY time I type it so I spell it correctly. It just won’t register in my brain! Throb is an easy red creme from the 2011 Throb Collection, which has three polishes…all with gross names. Call me a prude, but I like my cosmetic monikers to be a little less edgy. But I’ll let it slide because I loved the polish. On to the mani!

Pure Ice On His Saddle and Bring on the Joy

Disclosure: Products in this post were provided by the manufacturer, their PR firm or retailer for my review.

Today I have a simple tape mani with two Pure Ice faves, On His Saddle and Bring on the Joy. Both of these polishes were part of the 2012 Limited Edition Holiday Collection (I swatched them here and here.) This collection became quite the hot commodity late last year. While these colors may not be available anymore…I recommend you always peruse the special collection Pure Ice displays whenever you’re at Walmart. In fact, I believe some of the new releases are actually renamed polishes from the Runway Trends Collection.

MAC Glitter and Limelight

For my last mani of the week, I have my very first MAC polishes, Everything that Glitters and In the Limelight. This duo makes up half of the 4-polish MAC Glamour Daze Nail Lacquer Collection released in October for the holiday 2012 season. I’ll show you the other two shades, Endless Night and Girl Trouble, in a future post. I had super high expectations considering the price tag of these babies and I REALLY wanted to love them. But in the end I was disappointed. Let’s get to the mani and you’ll read why…

Digit-al Dozen Does Festiveness: Oh Christmas Tree(s)

Good morning! It’s day two of the Digit-al Dozen holiday theme week. Yesterday was my first mani with the group and they all put out some awesome stuff…so be sure to check them out. There’s a link at the end of this post.

So today I have a simple tape design. It may be a little impractical, but it looks good! I started with two coats of China Glaze Running in Circles, a gorgeous fine glass flecked green from the Cirque du Soleil collection. While that dried, I cut slim tape triangles and taped off each nail. Then I added a generous coat of China Glaze Ruby Pumps. I tried to do this in reverse first – painting the nail red, then using two intersecting pieces to tape off the tree…but the green got lost over the red. I finished up with a small, metallic gold star. This is the impractical part. The stars didn’t last long…but they were cool while they lasted!

Butter London Marrow & Shambolic

Today’s mani combines two of my Butter London favorites, Marrow and Shambolic. Marrow is a dark purple with silver shimmer from the Fall 2010 Collection. Shambolic is from the latest 2012 Holiday Collection and it’s a very complex polish. It has ultrafine glitter in dark purple, pink, silver (?), maybe gold (?), maybe blue (??) and larger hexes in silver and purple. The sparkle may even have some holo in it. Whatever it is…I like it.

Pure Ice Purple Rain

Today I have another mani using polish from the Pure Ice Runway Trends release. There are 55 total shades in 5 different collections. I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that I’m the proud owner of 48 of them. I know, I know…that’s craziness. But they’re only $2 so why not? Plus, I’ve had great results with every single polish I’ve tried. So here’s today’s mani…

Double Tipping: Zoya Logan and Ziv

Today I have the last mani using polishes from the Zoya Ornate Collection. I must tell you that I’m not a green polish person, but Logan may be an exception. I took a cue from Zoya’s website and paired it with a gold tip in Ziv. Logan has a gold-leafy-like foil finish, just like Ziv. It’s hard to describe or capture in pictures! To do the double-tip, I used regular striping tape to tape off the top of the nail and also one line below that – a tape’s width apart. Then I polished over it in Ziv and removed the tape immediately after polishing each nail. Don’t forget to run the brush along the ends so you don’t end up with green tips.
